Candy Coated

Well I'm back home and getting back to work is never easy, even when you like your job and have great co-workers. The day after day of the same old same work just gets me a little tired. I'm my day dream I'm a professional crocheter....but I don't think I could make a full time living that way. But i'm gonna at least try and make my hobby make a little money. So I've been busy making lots of little shoes, and some little hats and this WIP(below) candy rainbow baby blanket for my newest project, my ETSY  shop. It will also be called The Bunny Stahl  and will open June 1, 2012. I will only be selling baby items this summer, then come September there will be some adult accessories. I'm also working on fleshing out a some of my own designs and writing up the pattern so I can sell those too.
I've gotten a little behind on my Jan Eaton Square project. Now it's time to get back on track, so in addition to my two a week I'm gonna have to do at least one to two more extra each week, I think I'm about fourteen behind. So these are this weeks, plus a wonderful rainbow one.
I hope you have a lovely week, and till next time..........

Portland

Hi everyone, I'm still out in Portland OR till Tuesday. We've been all over the city. But I have to say the day we spent on the coast was great day. Little windy but very pretty.
Also ate at some really great places but my favorite Portland food is the Portland Cream Donut. It's  a custard filled and frosted with maple frosting. But I did get my hands on some yarn from  All About Yarn and from the local Joanns. So I did work on some small projects out of the Crochet Today Baby Magazine  (which I think is still on stands since it is a special) I made the little hat and sneakers. And I changed them up to make them watermelon themed.
WIP
Still have to add the seeds. Also my sister picked up some yarn for another baby blanket for the Walnut. See the Walnut below.
The popcorns don't show up that good in the picture but I think the blankets gonna be all popcorn at my sister's request. These squares are also from the Jan Eaton Book.

Have to get back to playing with the Walnut.

Bunny

PS. If you can't follow me via blogger  I've set up a facebook page you can 'like' it (don't forget to press the Like button) and you find out when I post at The Bunny Stahl Crochet Creations  and when I Etsy store (to come in May).

Happy Easter

Happy Easter

Hope your all having a Happy Easter or just enjoying a nice Sunday. Above is my lovely nephew Walnut modeling the bunny hat I finished up. It was inspired by the book Knuffle Bunny  books. Sorry but no granny squares or WIP this week because I'm 3,000 miles away from CT in Portland OR. I'm going to be here for 10 days. Besides getting to meet the cutest little boy I'm excited to go to all the craft and yarn stores out her. Sorry it's so short after so long, but between planing for the trip and taxes and car drama I've been pretty busy. I'm very happy to be on vacation and will have more up next sunday.
Till next time

Hello

I've had a really busy week. The week last Saturday my poor little green beetle Lady was rear ended because the the woman was "Wearing my new clogs" and when she tried to break her foot slipped again, in fact rear ending me twice. No one was hurt except my car. It also kinda set my whole week off to a crazy start. But we move on, upward and onward. I cont. on with the Jan Eat 100 squares project.

I'm Up to 20 out of 100 of my Jan Eaton Motif Project.
The 4 from past 2 weeks
WIP
Baby Hat
I've also been working on this blue bunny hat for my nephew for Easter. I made this on with out a pattern. I'm trying hard to start working with out patterns on some project so maybe in a year from now I can sell  them on etsy or ravelry. So I will have the finished product next week. Well I hope you have a lovely week .

I Make Little Shoes

This week I made my first piece of baby clothing. I have to say I'm mighty proud. I posted this photo this picture on my facebook page and I've already gotten three request for them. I think this will become one of my go to gifts for new babies, and it took a whole lot less time than making a baby blanket. You can find this pattern in Crochet Today's spring issue on baby stuff.
WIP
Here is a peek at the Tardis Blanket. I've started doing some of the lettering on the door panel. The Right door has been crocheted together with. Still a looking a little lumpy, once it's trimmed and blocked it will come together a little better.
My cats can't comprehend that I would take a photo with out them in it.

Motifs
Here are the last two weeks of squares. I had some problems posting photos early this week. I'm up to 18 out of 100 so far.
I've decided to only post on Sundays from now on (unless a special holiday). It's really my only day off. So till next Sunday,
Love and Stitches,

Baby Boom

Babies, babies, BABIES. I can't seem to escape them, and why would I want to. For the last 7 years (post college life) I've gone to wedding after wedding (including my own). So its only natural to leave the wedding phase and move on to the baby phase of adulthood. Me and my hubby aren't  in baby ville yet, were still in newly wed land. BUT everyone else seems to be popping them out, and if not them, its a sister, daughter or in-law. I've decided that it's best for me to start expanding my baby gift skills beyond the blanket and hat. I'm going to learn to make baby booties. Lucky for me my favorite crochet magazine Crochet Today has a special spring baby issue on stands now.
Crochet Today is the crochet Magazine that speaks to me most. The patterns are fun, colorful and fresh. Below are the baby booty High Tops I'm going to make.

So I've the Rainbow Circle baby blanket. YAY ME! So I love it so much, I'm sure I'll use this motif again. It's a great tutorial  from http://signedwithanowl.blogspot.com/  was so easy to follow. I like the boarder, but I'm not in love with it. I think next time I might just do a white boarder.
This is a close up off the board I did. I made a very simple single crochet rainbow border using only 6 of the 12 colors I used in the blanket.
On a non-crochet topic....I found these really cute PEZ dispensers at CVS on sale for 99cents. I'm only keep one for myself and give the other ones to my sister and a friends. It's strange but I love Hello Kitty more at almost 30 than I did at 10. I plan on crocheting a cover for my Sony e-reader with Hello Kitty on it.

Don't worry I haven't forgot about the Tartis Blanket. I will feature it on WIP Wednesday. It's been a bit neglected since I was wrapped up in working on the circle blanket. I'm not going to be starting any more big projects till it's done. Hope you have a lovely week.

Motif Monday

If you haven't been following my blog then here is the deal. Part of my goals of 2012 is to work my way through Jan Eaton's 200 Squares, and do at least 100 different motifs (in the book some of the motifs are the same but show in different color schemes, and I plan to do all the different patterns). So every week since the beginning of the year I've been crocheting 2 a week. I've been using pinks and greens to make a garden blanket.  So these are the past two weeks squares. So far this circle in  the square one shown on top is my favorite, and I plan to make a scarf with this motifs.

Monday from now on is when I'm going to post the motifs, thus Motif Monday!
After I finish the Jan Eaton book I plan to move on and work my way through the Beyond the Square Motifs  book. That's all for now, I hope you have lovely week.

Work in Progress

Hey everybody I finally figured out what WIP mean, Work in Progress. I'm a little slow with the whole letter thing. It took me forever to figure out what WTF and LMAO were too. I really hate texting, so I never really learn the lingo. For such a boring week it really few by. So here is my WIP for this week.
WIP  Sunday

Just wanted to let every one know that I got this pattern from the blog www.signedwithanowl.blogspot.com tutorial. Signed with a Owl is one of my favorite blogs to follow. She also as a wonderful big circle tutorial that I also want to do something with. So the circle rainbow baby blanket is all crocheted up in cream . I used a join as you go technique for the first time. I've very happy with the color order and size. I'm now deciding on what border I'm gonna add. I'm thinking simple stripy edge. Still crocheting the Tardis blanket, but it kinda looks like a blue blob right now and will have picks up sometime this week.

Hello Sweetie

I finished up my sweet heart scarf. It's a little late for this Valentine's day. But all set for next year. It took me a while to deside how I was going to make my hearts. And after many tries I finally got the shape and size I wanted. . This was my first time doing lettering on crochet. After doing 18 hearts I'm starting to get the hang of it. I've also decide to make up a tutorial for the the sweet heart scarf (coming soon).

Progress Report
I didn't post any photos of my other projects because there at the very boring stage of sewing in ends and doing edgings. I fell behind on my Jan Eaton squares, so next week I will have 4 to show next week. So have a lovey week.

Happy Valentine's Day

Just a quick post  to give you a sneak peek at the sweet heart scarf I'm working on today. Something about all those little conversation hearts just got to me. The nice thing about this scarf is its all yarn from my own stash.
We are not  fancy people (we are also people on a budget) and this is our 6th Valentine's day together were going to enjoy a nice dinner a IHOP, then home for GLEE and the special peanut butter cheese cake I  made for us.

The Studio

Well it took a little longer to clean and organize the studio. I'm calling the studio from now on in hope to inspire me more to work in there rather than a dumping grounds for mail. The office sounded like boring work. But a Studio that sounds like fun and creative juices flowing. Last week I showed you that I reorganized my yarn closet. This week as you can see below the is cleaned up and ready to use space.

The week flew by so quick. The big thing that was going around here everyone was taking about was the 310 million dollar power ball (which someone, not me, is waking up rich today). Chatting about with friends and co-workers about what we would do with the money. Of course the , travel, house, car etc. But I think after I saw the world and was ready to settle in I love to own my own yarn shop and workshop where I could teach others to knit and crochet. AH...maybe someday.

Just a quick pick of Lola taking a cat nap with some yarn.

Progress Report:
All the little circles are done up in rainbow colors. This is the color order I'm putting them on.

The Tardis panels are all getting trimmed up with a light blue highlight and a black shadow. I can wait for the new season of Doctor Who to start. It will be great to have a blanket to use when it comes back this fall.

And here are this weeks granny squares.

Sneaky Kitties

Rory is a sweet as she is sneaky. I use to keep my yarn projects in a really nice basket. Then in a really nice bag.  And for a while nothing would happen. Until one day I would come home and find a yarn explosion up and down our hall way. Most recently Rory stole my husbands turkey Sandwich . He didn't know is was missing until he got to work.  We know it was her because she goes crazy when every you take turkey out of the fridge. We found the bread and tin foil under the sofa that night. This is why now I keep my back stash of yarn in a closet that I know they can't get into and in little bins with lids for current projects. I took me a while a good yarn was found unraveled before I started to do this. Also one of my other cats loves to chew on the bamboo needles.  I got both these bins at Target, they are the perfect size. They also fit perfectly under our side tables for easy stash away. So I hope you have better luck with you animals and crafting projects.

One thing I've learned from my organization of my office is I do not need any more yarn. At least not for a very long time. (You can't see it, but I also have a huge bin of second hand Red Heart Yarn) behind this.
And lets not forget it's THE JANE AUSTEN BOWL II. Yeah, yeah, yeah there is that other thing with the football and the beer...hmmm...SUPER BALL? whatever. Last year, thanks to the PBS Jane Austen Marathon on this Sunday was my first Jane Austen Bowl. We will be watching 'pride and prejudice', Emma, sense and sensibility, Mansfield park (Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were both check out at the library). In addition to those classics we  have 'Bride and Prejudice', 'Becoming Jane' and the 'Jane Austen Book Club'. It's really nice that my husband's best friend likes having a Super Bowl Party at his house, so I can enjoy my Sunday with Jane.

Progress Report:
It doesn't look like much, but I wanted to share the progress on the Tardis Blanket. So far I've got a good start on the eight panels in the doors. Once I finish doing the trim on these I'm going to work form the bottom up attaching and sewing the panels in.
I'm also making progress on the rainbow circle blanket. I've made it through green. This week I'm also going to make a small project. It's listed on my new page on this blog under Books I Love tab.

Here is this week's blocks from the Jan Eaton Book.  I hope you've had a lovey week.

Green eggs and Rainbows.

I could crochet here and there,
I would crochet anywhere.
I crochet green eggs and ham,
I crochet a hat like sam's.

I was brain storming an Easter gift for my nephew Walnut. And I was thinking a little hat and making up some little eggs, but then  I thought why not green eggs. Which turned into green eggs and ham. I also happened upon this yellow onesie at carters on the sale rack. It'd far from perfect, but I'm proud so say I did this all with out a pattern (there was a lot of trial and error) The hat doesn't look like much but I think when we put it on him it will look just right. I'm going to visit my sister and the Walnut (they live 3000 miles away) at Easter and I can't wait to take photos of him as Sam I am.

When I was  a little girl my mother would ask me what's your favorite color, and I would reply RAINBOW.

I've always wanted to tie dye cupcakes, and it's super easy. It's just a little messy, with using lots of cups is dripping batter all over. It was kinda inspired this week by the circle rainbow baby blanket (for the eric carle theme nursery ) I'm working on. Below is the progress I'm making. I love how it's coming along so much that i'm planing to make myself a spring bag in the same the colors and yarn when i'm done.

Last but not least. My two Jan Eaton squares.  As you can see I"m going for a spring garden theme colors.

Till next time. Love and Stitches, Bunny

Hoorah for more YARN

I'm always excited to get more yarn. I have now 16 colors to start my newest projects. One Project being the sampler granny square blanket with 100 (or more) different squares, it's more a learning project so I can challenge myself to learn new stitches. I'm going to use the Jan Eaton's 200 blocks and maybe make up a few of my own. It's my 2012 Year long project. I've decided my goal is going to 2 squares a week (thus 100 by the end of the year). I'm going to make smaller projects out of the squares, like baby blankets and other smaller projects. Here are this weeks squares.

Two being  a bedding set for a friend of mine. Its going to be a Eric Carle inspired  themed nursery. Eric Carle is the writer and illustrator of the Hunger Caterpillar among dozens of beautiful books.

I'm going to start with a circle afghan and make a trim on a white crib skirt to match. All his books use very bright and bold rainbow colors, so I think I should be able to capture that in the blanket.

I'm still working on my Tardis (Doctor Who blanket). I changed it a little bit. I'm proud to say its moving along  nicely.

Nerd Alert!

I just put is a order to for the yarn for my sampler blanket. I chose a 13 different colors of patons canadiana yarn. Its a nice inexpensive yarn with a good range of colors. Since I'm still learning I don't want to spend a ton of dough on a learning project.

While I'm waiting on my yarn order to be delivered I've been going through all my old yarn. There is a lot of it too. I have yarn from left over form project, yarn I thought I wanted to do projects with, and the second hand yarn (people know i knit and crochet so they given me). Two of these very large amounts of yarn is red heart super saver in blue, black and white. The blue is what I call TARDIS BLUE. If your not familiar with the Tardis is from the BBC show Doctor Who. Me and my husband love doctor who. Below is our Tardis cookie jar.

So for my husband I've started to make him is very own Tardis Blanket. I've be trying out some granny squares and so other designs. But here are some of the panels I've started .

Not Sure I'm gonna keep going in this direction and I have plenty of yarn to try out lots of different designs. Well back to work.
